Reuse and recycle is an effective way by the Australian people to solve the waste collection crisis

While the government immediately and effectively dealt with the waste collection crisis, the Australian people also actively developed collective wisdom to reduce the production of waste.

After China’s waste import ban, Australia has been in an unprecedented garbage disposal crisis. It is gratifying that the federal government has adopted the fastest response measures and formulated long-term plans. At the same time, Australian citizens are using their own way to make the most contribution to reuse and recycle.

I would like to write a commentary about the positive impact of China’s waste import ban for the Australian people which could make people aware the field of reuse and recycle. I hope to divide into three aspects which is the development of the academic, environment protection organization and society to illustrate the Australians begin to aware the field between reuse and recycle and call for more people to contribute for the nation.

Relevant research

There are some research to support my arguments.

The first event is The University of New South Wales is turning electronic waste into 3D printer filament. This is a research development on the academic field. A good example shows that Australian scholars are actively studying the issue of reuse.

The second event is reusing organization. Resource Recovery Australia is a national social enterprise providing re-use, repair and recycling services. They operate re-use shops, transfer stations, community recycling centres, upcycling studios, landfills and a problem waste mobile community recycling service in partnership with local councils, industry and community.

The third event is Innovative Coffee Cup Separation Station. When people are shopping in the Broadway, people could have seen the coffee cup separation station which is made by the Mirvac company. This way of separation can make people improve the awareness of recycle which could promote the social development.

Source of information

I hope to interview people in three areas. The first is a university professor or an expert who is committed to the research of reusing and asks research progress. The second is the responsible person in the environmental protection organization and asks how they will make a campaign to contribute for reusing. and third, I want to interview the Mirvac to find the reason why they set the coffee cup recycling bin and what their plan of waste is. Newsworthy websites also can be a source where I can link some relevant news.

Target audience and platform

My target audiences are the three types of Australian people. The first type is the scholar who studies in the reusing filed and wants to know the current situation and trend of reusing. And it is very suitable for scholars to discuss. The second type of people is the environmental protectors. This commentary will show the potential campaign which can cause resonance with environmental protectors to make them interested. The third type of the public. And a part of the article is writing focus on the resource company which set a coffee cup separation station. This part can engage Australian people to consider the contribution of reusing by the perspective of social development. I hope more Australian locals will see this report, therefore the best platform I choose is The Sydney Morning Herald. It is one of the largest and most influential newspapers in Australia, and provide readers with more content and more frequent updates online everyday.

Online delivery and function

I will use relevant news hyperlinks and videos, as well as interviewer images to help me express my story. I want to open the commentary function so that more viewers can see their views and discuss the opinions of other audiences. I also need to associate with some social media platforms to get more people to participate in this news commentary through audience sharing.
